Access to clean, improved varieties of seeds remain a major challenge to achieving high productivity and profitability in agricultural production in Africa. To help solve this problem IITA GoSeed ecommerce platform was launched for sales and distributions of early generation seeds of crops such as banana, cassava, cowpea, maize, plantain, rice, soybean and yam to seed companies at affordable price. This is a platform where Breeder and Foundation seeds are ordered and payed for online and delivery is made to the client within Nigeria for now. Also, embedded to this platform is the GoSeed Tracker, a digital platform which gives real-time tracking of cassava seed production, including planting planning, registration of seed fields, crop management harvesting, quality assessment and quality assertion. This platform is being leveraged for effective communication and networking of cassava seed producers and service provider for common good.
