Protecting farmers from weather-based risk

This was shared during one of the Break Out sessions at ICTforAg in DC on May 28th (Speaker: Sarah Coughlin, J-PAL) with learnings gathered from a review of weather index insurance products.

__

Some points covered:

Bundling of insurance with other products needs further study; timing of insurance premium payments has an effect on uptake; maybe most overlap with Sprout: hyper-local weather factors as an opportunity for more precise products and more utility to farmers.
